Janno Farm was created from Jill's passion for young horses. At the
start of it all, the idea was to breed and develop champions.
rom the very beginning, Jill enjoyed breaking and training green ponies. In her
junior years, she could be found breaking the young Halcyon ponies. She
concentrated on showing her small pony Halcyon Hyacinth, who she started from
scratch, through the pony hunter division. From there, it was on to the Large
ponies, and then to horses. Competing in the Children's Hunters, then the Jumpers,
completed a well rounded Jr. career.
Following her Jr. years, Jill decided to follow her passion, showing the Hunter
Breeding horses, and start breeding her own horses. Focusing on breeding horses
that stand on the line, and then go on to a performance career. The first weanling
selected by Jill went onto to win Devon, Upperville, and Middleburg, just to name
a few. That weanling, and the beginning of Janno Farm, centered on one very
special mare. That mare is the famous Grand Affair. Managed during her Hunter
Breeding years, and started under saddle by Jill, the foundation of Janno Farm was
laid. Working with legendary horseman Gerry Goldman, Jill was able to fine tune
her goals. The decision was made for Grand Affair to be bred to Unfold. The
result was the first Janno Farm home bred, Unlimited (Unfold X Grand Affair, by
Grand Sabre). Unlimited arrived, and the future of Janno Farm was under way.
This was Jill's first foal, he went onto be the Champion at Devon, Grand
Champion of the IHF West, and USEF National Champion. Janno Farm is proud
that Unlimited has gone onto to a great performance career in the Green
Conformation Hunters, Small Jr. Hunters, and the Regular Conformation Hunter
divisions.
Since then, Janno Farm has been extremely fortunate to produce several
Champions at the biggest shows in the Nation. Unlimited (Unfold X Grand Affair,
by Grande Sabre), Lookout Point, Imperial Crown (Zarr X Cheval D'or, by Gold
Apollo), Extravagant, Game Point, to name just a few. Jill is particularly proud of
Imperial Crown. She calls this one her "Once in a lifetime" horse. Imperial
Crown was born with "It"; the look, the movement, the conformation, the whole
package. Jill knew he was special from the moment he was born. He was bred to
be a good one. Jill centered this mating around her credo. "Breed the best to the
best to produce the best." Jill firmly believes the mares play the an extremely
important role in producing the ultimate athlete. Imperial Crown was just what
she hoped for. He didn't disappoint in the ring by winning at Devon, and being
purchased right out of the ring by Cismont Manor Farm. He has gone on to win
the IHF Finals Grand Champion, and the best is yet to come.
In 2006, Janno Farm sent out an amazing FIVE Devon Class winners, and FIVE
Upperville winners.
In 2007, Janno Farm entered a new phase. One devoted to Jill's breeding
program, and her clients. Without the support of her clients, and superior young
horses sent to train at Janno Farm, the farm would not be where it is today.
Janno Farm wishes to thank all of our clients, past and present for your support
and belief in our program over the years.
Janno Farm has branched out to breeding some race horses. Jill is looking
forward to seeing her babies race, as well as show.
As we look to the future, Janno Farm has great prospects in the wings. From the
race track to the show ring. Look for the stunning "This Is It" colt (Minister
General X Grand Affair, by Grande Sabre), and several of Symmetry Ranch, LLC,
TB's in the show ring. Look for the solid Affirm The Tiger (Hold that Tiger X
Affirm Foundation, by Affirmed) on the track.
Jill's daughter looks to follow in her footsteps. Jacey has the same burning
passion her mother has, and is already off to a great start in the show ring. Jacey
has earned excellent ribbons at the top shows. The next generation of Janno Farm
has begun!
